The channel is moving nearly all programming to broadband internet.

The Black Family Channel, whose 16 million viewers tune in for an alternative to the sex and violence of standard cable, has announced it will move all its programming to the internet. "It's the best strategy in these days and times," founder Willie Gary told the Palm Beach Post. "I'm just convinced that pretty soon people are going to be watching television from a cellphone. That's just the way it's going to be." The only Black Family Channel programming scheduled to stay on traditional television will be their gospel shows, which will air on cable's Gospel Music Channel. According to the Post, the network, which is co-owned by boxer Evander Holyfield and former baseballer Cecil Fielder, has not yet been profitable. "Our mission is still out there," said Gary. "We're just getting smart. Broadband doesn't have any competition at this point."
