Cartel de Santa MC Accidentally Kills Bandmate
Leader of popular Mexican hip-hop group accidentally murders fellow MC.
Eduardo Davalos de Luna - also known as El Babo, head rapper in the popular Mexican rap group Cartel de Santa - accidentally shot and killed his bandmate Friday. Luna, 30, was armed with a .38 and was attempting to defend himself from the group's driver, Juan Miguel Chavez, who was allegedly coming to shoot Luna. When Chavez arrived, Luna fired several shots, one of which ricocheted and killed his friend and fellow MC, Ulises Nayit Buenrostro, 26. Luna confessed to the crime and said it was an accident to police investigators. He is scheduled to appear before a judge today.
Cartel de Santa is a popular hip-hop crew from the city of Santa Catarina in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Their first, eponymous album was produced by Jason Roberts, also responsible for Cypress Hill, Ice Cube, and fellow Mexican ensembles Control Machete and Plastilina Mosh. The group had been scheduled to perform tomorrow night in Veracruz.
