Media luminaries discuss racism, sexism on Rutgers panel tomorrow.

Pulitzer Prize winner Ira Berkow, radio host Deepa Fernandes and hip-hop sports columnist Dave Zirin (Welcome to the Terrordome: The Pain, Politics and Promise of Sports) will participate in a panel discussion at Rutgers University tomorrow, and field questions surrounding the Imus/ Rutgers/ hip-hop controversy. "Challenging Racism and Sexism in the Media and Society: A Panel Discussion" will also address some of the ideas presented in Jeff Chang and Zirin's recent LA Times article, No Scapegoats: The Other Side of Hip-Hop, which touches on hip-hop feminism and presents an alternative to big-media, commercial rap. The panel starts at 7 pm, and will be held in the Multipurpose Room of the Student Center, College Ave Campus, Rutgers University, 126 College Ave, New Brunswick, NJ.
