Charges Expected in Jam Master Jay, Stretch Deaths
Ronald "Tinard" Washington anticipating accessory charges.
According to the Boston Herald, a witness to Jam Master Jay's death has linked Ronald "Tinard" Washington to the murders of both JMJ, and Randy "Stretch" Walker. In an interview, Washington told the Herald that he expects to be charged as an accessory to both murders, but maintains his innocence.
Washington is currently being held in a Brooklyn prison for six armed robberies occurring in November 2002 - a few weeks after JMJ was killed in his Queens studio. "It's all lies," Washington told the Herald. "[The witness is] telling them that I was mad at Jay because he is doing better than I am, that I killed Stretch because he owed me something and I wanted it. She is making up lies because they threatened to deport her." Washington admitted he was present in the studio on the day JMJ was shot, but claimed he was there because Jay wanted Washington to protect him. Lydia High, a second witness, told investigators "Washington forced her facedown on the floor as a second man shot Mizell in the head," according to the Herald.
According to the Herald, Washington is expected to be charged in the ongoing federal investigation of the hip-hop industry, headed up by New York's Hip-Hop Task Force. The Herald reports that several rappers are also expected to be charged for unrelated crimes in coming months. In July 2004, VIBE.com investigated the police "rap intelligence units" then being exposed in various cities.
In April 2005, Jam Master Jay's mother, Connie Mizell-Perry, told VIBE, "If people who have information are treating the police the same way they are treating us, then I couldn't say. I don't know who killed my son. But I have faith that justice will be done, now or at the killer's own death."

It's a shame that if this is true that we as "black men" have to resort to the heavy violence that's being done right now!!! Meaning just because a brother is mad does it mean that you have to kill somebody just because you're MAD! That's bull^%$&, we have to do better in this here game called LIFE. Do we have to put a gun to someone just because they owe you a couple of dollars, or because they're getting money??? Or how about just because another brother's got your ex-girl and treating her better than you did??? Is this the senseless violence that my kids as well as yours has to go through!!
