P hosts DC hip-hop summit.

On the heels of Master P's announcement that he will no longer promote hip-hop with negative language, the prominent raptrepreneur will host the "We Got Next Summit," a one-day music business conference at Howard University with an all-star roster of panelists. We Got Next is meant to showcase Washington DC-based artists - i.e. up-and-coming rapper Wale - and will school attendees on the business of personal responsibility via non-DC-based artists - i.e. producer Rich Harrison. Attendees from Chaka Zulu to Chucky Thompson to Mad Linx and Raheem DeVaughan will discuss the social impact of their artistic choices. Other topics include legal issues, marketing, production, radio promotion, along with an artist showcase and fashion show. The summit is scheduled to follow Master P's "America's Next Hip-Hop Stars" competition, a contest judged by Snoop Dogg, Paul Wall, Romeo and Free (BET), in which the winning artist gets a deal on P's new no-negativity Take a Stand Records. The whole thing goes down June 30, 2006, in Howard University's Cramton Auditorium, for a $25 entrance fee. For more information, check out the We Got Next Summit homebase.
