140,000 tickets for Prince's recently-announced London residency sold out in a matter of 20 minutes, prompting promoters to add another six shows to the planned 21-date stint.
His Purpleness announced the concerts last week, saying they would be his last before he took a sabbatical to further study the Bible. He also said it would be the final time he would perform back-catalog hits like "When Doves Cry" in the UK, spurring fans into a ticket-purchasing flurry that crashed the sales website.
In a prequel to the British run, last week Prince performed one of his legendary secret concerts for 1500 London fans, during which he played "U Got the Look," "Nothing Compares 2 U" and "Let's Go Crazy," along with covers by Gnarls Barkley ("Crazy") and Amy Winehouse ("Love is a Losing Game"). He reportedly returned for two encores, quipping, "So many hits, so little time!"

Back in the days when people used 2 ask "Who's the best: Michael Jackson or Prince?" I was always the oddball in the group who picked Prince. Michael Jackson made about 10 or 11 songs that I like, but on the other hand Prince has @ least 40 that I consider the bomb, the sh-t,whatever u wanna call it!!! I always did feel Prince more than Michael, even back in the 80's when "Thriller" was the hottest album out.And Prince's new material is just as funky as the old sh-t. I think he was listening 2 some of his old cd's like "Controversy","Purple Rain Soundtrack","Sign of the Times" and he realized that was some of the funkiest sh-t he ever made,so with his new cd he took us back to those, except he doesn't have Wendy,Lisa, and the rest of the Revolution or the NPG with him anymore 2 my knowledge. he's still funky as ever though.

Prince is the man. He's doing some gigs in LA before the London shows and then his perfume comes out. Prince is reaping the benefits of longevity, talent and true musicanship. We are missing true musicans. Too many "beat makers" and theives like Timbaland.
I love me some Prince!! www.3121.com
