24-Hour Rapathon sets records, benefits hip-hop culture center.

Over 100 hip hop artists will rap for 24 hours straight this Saturday, May 12, hoping to set a Guinness World Record for the world’s longest, ongoing rhyme session. Kool Herc and Jinx da Juvy will be in attendance, representing the rapathon's goal of uniting old and new school. The event kicks off at 5 pm at the Hip Hop Culture Center, 2309 Frederick Douglass Blvd., above the Magic Johnson Theater, Harlem. Tickets are available via Hot 97 or at the door, though the event will also be webcast at gacny.com. The Rapathon will benefit the Hip Hop Culture Center, New York's first official permanent hip hop historical archive and cultural center, which aims to reach disconnected and underserved youth via hip-hop.
