Common Tops Billboard Charts
His seventh album, his first number one. Plus, Sean Kingston takes the slot for number six.
Finding Forever, the new album by Obama-cosigned rapper Common, debuted at number one on the Billboard charts this week. The album, Com's seventh, sold 155,329 copies, beating out rock group Korn. It's his first #1 hit. Read our review here.)
Since the release of his last album, 2005's Be, Common has had increased mainstream visibility, having appeared in ads for the Gap and Converse's (Product) Red campaign, in addition to hard-launching his acting career, in Smokin' Aces and the upcoming Denzel Washington flick, American Gangster. He has roles forthcoming in Wanted, alongside Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman, and The Night Watchman, co-starring Keanu Reeves and Forrest Whitaker.
Common is also the first hip hop artist to have his album sold via Starbucks, the coffee chain / public restroom located on every corner of every city in America. Respect to the album - even better than his last - but that can't have hurt.

I cannot believe that people actually believe that Common is a wack rapper. You have got to be kidding me! Finding Forever is a tight CD and his last CD Be should have been way more recognized than it was. I guess you have to be rapping about drugs, money, and women. That's sad!! Common represents REAL HIP-HOP!!!!
