Foxy Brown: Deuces to Def Jam
Brown signs Koch distro/label deal
After all the confusion, headaches and heartbreak, any lingering questions concerning Foxy Brown's relationship with Def Jam have been answered. The Brooklyn emcee has reportedly signed a multi-million dollar distribution deal to have her own label, Black Rose, under the graveyard, urr, Koch.
The troubled star has recently been released from a Brooklyn jail on $5000 bail for felony assault, menacing, and harassment and criminal possession of a weapon after knocking one of her neighbors upside the head with a blackberry.
Originally, speculation grew that her attention grabbing scenarios had strained her relationship with Def Jam, a label she's been with for 13 years. But after rumor first spread late last year that Jay-Z had dropped his one-time rhyme partner from the label's roster, Brown vehemently denied it.
Shortly after that, Def Jam's publicist, Gabriel Tesoriero, told VIBE that Foxy was in-fact still on Def Jam.
Brown is currently readying the release of her Koch debut, Brooklyn's Don Diva later this year. Brown is the first female emcee to have an independent label under Koch.
