As if there wasn't more drama to add to last weekend's Ozone Awards in sunny Miami, it has now been confirmed to VIBE that Florida rapper, Grandaddy Souf- who got beat up outside Miami's club Mansion- never endured a coma.
A source present at the Ozone Awards said Grandaddy was beaten bloody, and left in an alleyway. "His pants were down," the source said. "It was humiliating."
Grandaddy's former publicist, ChiQuita Simms, has confirmed to VIBE that in spite of speculation and other reports, "He was not in a coma," she said.
Simms received several phone calls when the incident happened.
"He was apparently in the club and got into an altercation with some other guys," she says. "I assumed he was the aggressor, because I heard he was cutting up with security and got kicked out by security. They threw him on the curb."
Simms was apparently shocked by the news- Grandaddy was never the type to cause trouble, she says. "He's not a person who goes out and drinks like a drunk. He doesn't do that. He doesn't get crazy."
Simms is still unsure, though, who beat Grandaddy to a pulp. "It's kind of hard to say who did what," she said, adding regretfully.
Grandaddy Souf's debut album, Chasing My Dream was released in June.
