Ivy Queen, Elvis Crespo, and Kinky were among the crowds of stars present at South Beach hotspot Mansion Tuesday (August 28) for the press conference announcing the nominees for the 8th Annual Latin Grammys. The Dominican Republic's Juan Luis Guerra led the nominations with five, but was closely followed by reggaeton duo Calle 13 (pictured) and pop star Ricky Martin - all three performers are up for "Album of the Year." Cuban hip hop group Orishas, Daddy Yankee, Kinky, Caetano Veloso, Aterciopelados, and Don Omar were among those garnering nominations, along with Manu Chao, film score maestro / rock en espanol pioneer Gustavo Santaolalla, Paulina Rubio and Ojos de Brujo.
Beyonce and Shakira's "Bello Embustero (Beautiful Liar)" was nominated for Record of the Year, though Beyonce's irrepressible "Irremplazable" failed to get a nod.
In the "Best Urban Music Album" category, superstars Calle 13, Daddy Yankee, Ivy Queen and Orishas are up against VIBE fav, Spanish rapper Mala Rodriguez, for her album Malamarismo. And in "Best Urban Music Song," the "Impacto (Remix)" - Daddy Yankee's collaboration with Black Eyed Peas Fergie and will.i.am - goes up against tracks by Orishas, Tres Coronas, Don Omar with Wisin y Yandel, and Calle 13.
The 8th annual Latin Grammys air live from Las Vegas on the UniVision Network, November 8.
