Mistah F.A.B. is known for "going dumb on da yellow bus" - but the Bay Area rapper wants to help local kids get smart. That's why he's teamed up with Oakland Youth UpRising, a community organization, to donate 200 backpacks to Alameda County kids, fully stocked with school supplies like pens, paper, binders and folders. "As entertainers, it's our duty to share the success that we have received from the fans," F.A.B said in a press release. "I feel it's really important that kids go to school to see the value in their education. The power of the pen is mightier thanthe sword; and the more we know, the more we can make a change."
F.A.B, an Oakland Technical High School graduate, has donated numerous times through Oakland Youth UpRising, which offers academic assistance, educational stipends and job placement and training, along with programs to reduce community violence. The organization will give away the school supplies at a "Back to School Night" the evening of Thursday (August 30), at 5 pm, at their headquarters located 8711 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland, Calif. There will also be entertainment by YU members and school district info on hand. For more info go to www.youthuprising.org.
Mistah F.A.B.'s latest album, Da Baydestrian (SMC), is out now.

It's cool that FAB can give back to his community, where hyphy started and got him started.
