Hit "Beautiful Girls" singer won't play Biggie in biopic

The wait for who will play the Notorious B.I.G. in the upcoming Fox Searchlight biopic of the slain rapper, Notorious, is now over. . . so we thought. According to Hot 97's Miss Info, singer and rapper Sean Kingston claimed at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards that he has landed the role of a lifetime. "My management told me about it and, you know, I had auditioned for it and I met with the director and I nailed it and he gave me a shot now at being in the movie," Kingston, whose single "Beautiful Girls" landed at the number one spot of the Billboard 100 chart, reportedly said. But Miss Info reports that upon hearing Kingston saying he landed the role, B.I.G.'s former co-manager Wayne Barrow contacted her to say it wasn't true. "NO, Sean Kingston nor ANY other individual has been cast for the role of Christopher 'Notorious B.I.G' Wallace or any other characters which will be portrayed in the biopic of B.I.G!!! We will continue to search for the individual to fill the shoes of B.I.G in this film…" he said. Hundreds of Biggie look-alikes have sent videos to biggiecasting.com through an open audition process. And apparently, Barrow, along with the biopic's screenwriter and frequent VIBE contributor Cheo Hodari Coker - who wrote "Unbelievable" (VIBE Books), on which the script is based - are still searching for someone who fits the bill. "The most important element to casting B.I.G. is what we consider the swagger," Barrow said. George Tillman Jr., of Soul Food fame, has been tapped to direct. Sean "P. Diddy" Combs is executive producer, and the late rapper's mother, Voletta Wallace, along with Barrow and B.I.G.'s other former manager Mark Pitts, will serve as producers.
