R. Kelly: Tried, Trapped
Just after the preview for "Trapped" Chapter 13 leaks, Kells finally gets a court date.
Five years after he was first charged with 14 counts of child pornography, R. Kelly is on his way to court: jury selection in the case that made VIBE's May cover will officially begin September 17, according to Cook County Judge Vincent Gaughan. Kells has plead not guilty to all charges, which include the accusation that he filmed himself having sex with an underage girl in 2002. If convicted, the R&B icon faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.
In related news, Kells continues to record as if no court looms. As his Usher-duet fantasia "Same Girl" tops charts, the preview for his epic R&B opera "Trapped in the Closet Chapter 13" has hit the internet. Punctuating every detail with the catchphrase "aw shit," Kells appears in a crisp white suit to summarize the telenovelaish events of the first 12 chapters, looking something like an angelic, over-the-top talk show host. Chapters 13-22 are set to drop on DVD this August 21.
