Amy Winehouse's Dad Airs Her Out

Mitch Winehouse downplays Ms. Rehab's multiple battles

Amy Winehouse has been media fodder for everything from her alleged heroin and crack addiction and rehab stints, to a tumultuous marriage that would make the late Sid and Nancy look like a happy couple. But on Monday, Amy's dad, Mitch Winehouse, appeared on the UK's ITV Monday to set the record straight about his troubled superstar daughter - including claiming she is currently battling bulimia, Perez Hilton reported.

Addressing Amy's August domestic dispute with her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, in which the 23-year-old singer was found leaving a London Hotel covered in bruises and blood, Mitch says the less-than-flattering photos of the encounter and rumors are false, according to the Daily Mail.

". . .There's a different story behind the headlines. Some of the things, which have been reported in the press, have been completely inaccurate and sometimes they're lies. Clearly what you've just seen in those photographs are not lies but what preceded it and what went after it - well, it's stretching the truth, let's put it like that," he says.

But just this past August, Mitch seemed to be humming a different tune. According to the UK's Times Online, the worried father then said of the alleged hotel fight, "I thought that here are two people that are completely out of control, and yet an hour later they are walking back to the hotel arm in arm. As a parent, it was sickening, worse than sickening. I wanted to die, but I can't die, I have a family and friends, and loved ones who need me."

As for the drug rumors, Mitch offered on Monday, "It's apparent in her music that she's smoked dope for quite a while, probably from the age of 16 or 17, perhaps even earlier. She was a complete opponent of hard drugs. In fact, she got up and said she couldn't understand why people in the music industry took hard drugs - and that changed about 6 months ago when she got married to Blake. And I'm not saying its Blake's fault. What I'm saying is, Amy's responsible for her own actions. However, it's a fact that the hard drugs coincided with their marriage."

Mitch went on to say that Winehouse' eating disorder is "the other problem . . . which is still apparent, although she's put on about a stone in weight but it's still affecting her health and there are problems with substance abuse as well. But again, not as bad as has been reported."
