Reps for R&B lover boy Chris Brown released a statement today denying
recent reports of an alleged sexual relationship between Brown and
his longtime manager, Tina Davis.
Yesterday, various radio stations and blogs quoted sources that said
the 18-year-old performer was involved in a two-year love affair with
his manager, a former executive at Def Jam who took Brown underneath her
wing during the infant stages of his career.
Before Chris signed to Jive Records, he stayed with Tina in her New Jersey home, where he prepared for his teen heartthrob music career.
But according to a source for popular culture blogger Sandra Rose, that wasn't the only thing he was doing.
"The drama behind the scenes has become so disruptive that it threatens
the start of the tour," Rose wrote yesterday, referring to Brown's Up
Close and Personal tour, which begins in Cincinnati on December 6.
"My source tells me exclusively that Chris Brown has been intimate with his manager since she met him at the tender age of 16! And furthermore, he is 'madly in love with her' . . . apparently, Chris' mom Joyce recently became aware of the situation and is not at all happy."
"Normally I wouldn't report a story like this without solid proof," Rose also wrote. "But my source is well-placed and very credible. This is the same source who gave me the scoop on Tameka Foster's pregnancy before anyone else reported it. I have learned never to doubt my source."
Today, Brown's camp fired back with this statement:
"Chris Brown and his manager, Tina Davis have a strictly professional
relationship. Ms. Davis has been instrumental in helping Chris achieve
success as a multi-talented singer/dancer/actor. Rumors that the
relationship goes beyond a working one, are not only *patently false*;
they diminish her efforts and his undeniable talents."
In his interview with VIBE for an October 2007 cover story, Brown
admitted to having "friends with benefits," but maintained he was
unattached to any specific women.
"I'm really single," he said. "And
that's not a political answer."
