Nonprofit Holds Gala for Rap Star in NY

Rap star Fat Joe will be honored at the 1st Annual Dinner and Awards Gala of In Arms Reach Inc., Thursday, November 29, for supporting youth.

The Terror Squad chief supported youth developmental projects for incarcerated parents for the non-profit organization.

The gala will also honor New York Giants linebacker Carl Banks, former New York Supreme Court judge Jerome W. Marks, and others. The night’s performer will be Trey Songz.

In Arms Reach focuses on counseling, prison visitation services, and academic mentoring for children in urban areas whose are former or current prisoners.

"My community has been the foundation of everything I've ever accomplished in music and my business ventures," Fat Joe said in a statement.

"It's the role of hip-hop to give voice to the most overlooked, and it's the role of every responsible person to look into the community and be a positive force to as many as we possibly can. I'm proud to help bring awareness to this segment of youth, at a time when so many of our families in the minority community remain separated by the system."
