Diddy pulls out the red carpet for his son’s Sweet 16

It’s a known fact Sean “Diddy” Combs is the king of the party, but on Saturday (Dec. 15), it was all about his son.

A-list actors, singers and rappers, all came out to Atlanta’s Velvet Room to celebrate the “Stuntin' Like My Daddy"-themed Sweet 16 of Quincy Brown— the son of Albert Brown, a.k.a. Al B. Sure and Diddy's on-again, off-again girlfriend Kim Porter. (Al B. did not attend because of a rumored spite over the party’s theme that alluded to Diddy being Quincy’s dad).

Guests included Jermaine Dupri, Rev. Run and son Diggy, Kyle (from “That's So Raven”), the children of Outkast’s Big Boi, Dallas Austin, Bow Wow, and Diddy’s sons Christian and Justin Combs.

Diddy, dressed in a mustard-colored leather coat and white T-shirt, pulled up in a chauffeured Cadillac Escalade.

“You can win all the awards and make all the money in the world, but there is not much that can compare to this,” Diddy said proudly. “To see Quincy go from a boy to a man, that’s one of my proudest moments. When you see him out there doing his thing and being a respectable, humble young man, it makes life and all of the hard work worthwhile.”

Thanks to MTV, it’s no secret that “Super” Sweet 16 parties have become a proud adolescent competitive sport. Kids race to out-celebrate the next kid who throws lavish bashes on his or her wealthy parent’s tab— and Quincy was no exception.

“This is the only way to do it man!” Quincy gushed. “I’m setting the record straight for other Sweet 16’s to come.”

Setting the record straight indeed. Live performances were a who’s who of teen pinups: Chris Brown, Bow Wow, Omarion, Hurricane Chris and Dem Franchise Boyz. Quincy’s arrival was a high-strung processional led by the Druid Hills High School marching band, followed by Quincy in a cream 1964 Lincoln Continental draped in white and navy blue leather interior. The DJ was DJ Drama. His date for the night was Lauren London.

“I know that he’s going to grow to be a wonderful young man, because he’s been a great child,” Porter said. “I’m just excited for him and excited for what his future holds for him.”

Close to midnight, the party proceeded outside to find a parked 2008 Range Rover properly fitted with 22-inch rims — Quincy’s birthday gift courtesy of Diddy.

“This is the turning point right here, man,” said Atlanta rap star Gorilla Zoe. “This is a good example of going from a boy into a man.”
