Suspect apprehended in Atlanta and arrested in connection to stabbing of Shamel McKinney.

A Brooklyn man has been arrested in the murder of Fabolous's childhood friend, according to the New York Times. Anthony Taylor, 26, was apprehended in Atlanta yesterday and will be brought back to New York to face charges in the homicide of Shamel McKinney, 25.

McKinney was stabbed outside popular Manhattan nightclub Duvet on November 23, just three days after his friend Fabolous's 30th birthday party. According to the NY Post, McKinney rolled up on Taylor in the wee hours of the morning in an attempt to take his chains, worth a reported $10,000. Taylor allegely drew a knife in retaliation and stabbed McKinney once, killing him. The New York Daily News has speculated McKinney was part of Street Family, a Brooklyn crew that allegedly robs celebrities of their chains. A representative for the NYPD would neither confirm nor deny the allegation to VIBE.

Police found a bloody seven-inch switchblade in a nearby trashbin, but have not said whether it was the murder weapon.

Duvet, which has a history of brawls and fisticuffs behind its doors, was closed Saturday, December 1, by court order as a result of the stabbing.
