The city of Compton has put in a request to ban alleged Mob Piru gang
member Suge Knight and several other Mob Pirus from gathering in a
northeast neighborhood, but several locals are fighting the proposed
injunction.
Authorities told the Los Angeles Times that for years the Mob Pirus,
which totals about 200 members, have terrorized the neighborhood with
intimidation tactics that range from assaulting residents to shooting
off guns. The LAPD unleashed war on gangs in the city two years ago with
injunctions to wipe out offenders.
"We have the lowest murder rate in 20 years in Compton,” Lt. Paul
Pietrantoni, who heads the Los Angeles County gang task force, told the
Times.
But even with the new low, several locals in Compton aren’t thrilled
over the gang wars, fearing law enforcement will begin bullying regular
law-abiding citizens, several community leaders believe.
“What you find,” a community volunteer told the Times, “is that the
whole community becomes terrorized by law enforcement."
The Mob Pirus have been well known by rap fans for years, mostly due to
their link with early-'90s behemoth Death Row Records and its six foot,
315 pound overseer Marion “Suge” Knight.
“At Death Row, I don’t have to worry about embarrassing nobody,” Tupac
Shakur, fresh out of Riker's Island penitentiary, told VIBE in a
February 1996 interview, “…cause motherfuckers is scared shitless of Suge.”
The now 42-year-old Death Row Records founder denies he has any gang
involvement, and has labeled the ban a “publicity stunt.”
“This is crazy," Knight said, adding he’s a “businessman, not a gang
member. I don't even live in Compton anymore . . . . This injunction
names people who are already in jail -- and at least one guy who is long
dead."
The proposed ban will put the breaks on gangsters congregating in the
areas of Bullis Road on the west, Pine Street on the north, Thorson
Avenue on the east and Rosecrans Avenue on the south.
Gang members will be fined $1000, or thrown in jail for throwing up gang
signs, carrying weapons, drinking alcohol or fighting in public,
spray-painting graffiti, and are expected to be off the streets by 10 p.m.

the move is absolutely right.suge knight is a destructive influence anywhere,he and his people.when will he ever come to his senses? i once viewed suge as a genius in what he has amassed i this industry but a fool because he destroyed it.he had the world he had the artist he was so creative and yet possessed with demons that dominated his life and destroyed him.the community of compton need many positive influences to overwhemingly overcome the damage that these destructive influences amassed.let him learn to be civilized and use his creativity and genius to promote the well-being of our communities and repent/denounce his past.
