Calls Aretha’s comments about Beyonce “childish” and “unprofessional”

I’m not even going to take this to Beyonce.

Matthew Knowles, didn’t appreciate Aretha Franklin talking greasy about his daughter Beyonce, and has released a statement today saying so.

Yesterday, VIBE.com reported Aretha Franklin calling Beyonce’s Grammy Awards speech to Tina Turner a “cheap shot” after Knowles referenced Turner "the queen of soul."

“I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce," Franklin said in a statement. "However, I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy.”

Matthew Knowles says he didn’t want Beyonce to pay any attention to Franklin. “I’m not even going to take this to [Beyonce],” he said. “Something this ridiculous, it’s childish, it’s unprofessional. And it’s a sad day when egos get bruised because somebody used the word king, queen, prince or princess.”

Beyonce has yet to comment on the Grammy speech, which, according to New York Magazine, was speculated to have been written by Clive Davis, Aretha’s former label rep. Franklin cleaned up her comments, later saying, “I thank the Grammys and the voting academy for my 20th Grammy and love Beyonce anyway."
