“I felt it appropriate not to give an exact date on my release,” the star said.

Locked up, or free as a bird? The confusion over the status of Game, real name Jayceon Taylor, prison stay has been jogging the media for the past week.

Tuesday, VIBE.com reported that Game was released from prison after eight days served in what was originally a 60-day sentence. This information allegedly came from the rap star’s lawyer, Shawn Holley. That same day, Game’s manager Jimmy Rosemond, released a statement explaining he was simply transferred from one prison to another because of gang affiliations.

Today, Game came out himself and explained the confusion in another statement:

“I apologize for the conflicting news on my release, but due to the sensitive negotiations on this matter I felt it appropriate not to give an exact date on my release. I am truly grateful to my attorney, family and management for doing a great job in this respect. Upon my release I went directly to the studio with producers Cool & Dre and recorded several records including my street record ‘Big Dreams.’ Thank you to all my fans as well for the support.”

Charges for Game stem from an altercation in February 2007, where outside the Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex in Los Angeles, Game punched a player from an unknown team during a pick-up basketball game. He then reportedly ran to grab his gun, before threatening the man. He was arrested three months later.

The rapper was sentenced February of last year to 60 days in prison and ordered to do 150 hours of community service.
