Brooklyn rapper chosen to play Biggie in upcoming biopic 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, rapper Gravy, real name Jamal Woolard, has been selected to portray the late Biggie Smalls (Christopher Wallace) aka The Notorious B.I.G. in the biographical film, Notorious. Gravy was selected after an open call casting last yearto play the Brooklyn rapper who some consider one of the greatest rappers of all time.

Gravy is best known as the rapper who got shot outside New York’s Hot 97’s studios two years ago and, instead of seeking medical help, proceeded to go on with the radio appearance. Hebeat out hundreds of like-minded Biggie wannabes vying for the role of the title character. Castalongside Gravy is Angela Basset who will play Biggie's mother Voletta Wallace, Derek Luke, who will depict Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, and Anthony Mackie as Biggie’s chief rival, Tupac Shakur.

Notorious starts production this month and is being directed by George Tillman Jr. and produced by Huntsman, J. Paul Huntsman, Voletta Wallace, Wayne Barrow, Mark Pitts, Bob Teitel and Trish Hofmann and executive produced by Sean Combs. The filmis currentlyslated for a January release.
