Group will headline Rock the Bells summer tour

While on the road to promote his upcoming summer solo project The Renaissance, rap’s tender-toned storyteller Q-Tip has announced today he will reunite with his former group, A Tribe Called Quest for the Rock the Bells tour.

Starting in July, Tip will set out with a live band and EPMD’s DJ Scratch. The rapper plans to showcase new songs, like “WorkItOut” off his upcoming album, as well as classics “Vivrant Thing” and “Breathe & Stop.”

At the end of each show, Tip will bring out legendary crew A Tribe Called Quest.

ATCQ are most known for throwing the Native Tongues movement in hip hop into the mainstream and popularizing “backpack” rap. The group eventually broke up in 1999 after reported issues with their label, Jive Zomba.

An official release date for Renaissance has yet to be issued.
