Entertainment company plans to release legendary rocker’s alleged sex tape

Back in the day, people called Jimi Hendrix a rock god, wild man, and womanizing Casanova. But 40 years since Hendrix’ death, Vivid Entertainment plans to make money off his reputation.

According to the Associated Press, Vivid plans to release an 11-minute sex tape of Hendrix—or a man who looks like him— getting busy with about two women. The Los Angeles-based adult film company said they retrieved the tape from a memorabilia collector and conferred with experts to make sure the footage was authentic.

But Charles Cross, author of the Hendrix biography Room Full of Mirrors, alleges that the man in the footage is anyone but Hendrix.

“This is somebody that looks like Jimi or is pretending to look like him, but it certainly didn't look like a dead-on match to me," he told the AP.

Cross says one of the reasons he figures it’s not Hendrix is because of the number of rings the man in the video is wearing. Cross says Hendrix was never known to wear lots of rings.

Hendrix died in 1970 of a drug overdose. His estate declined to comment on the tape.
