It was only a matter of time before rap’s most prolific MC would get bored with the booth. Lil Wayne, the man who once rapped on a song entitled “Hollywood Divorce”, has said I do to filming a project with The Weinstein Company. Wayne will star alongside actor Forrest Whitaker in the film The Patriot. The movie began filming in New Orleans this week.
The Patriot is based on a true story about a basketball team that came together from five different high schools in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Whitaker plays the coach of the team who leads them to the state finals. Lil Wayne will star as Lamont, a student from Al Collins High School who is a skeptic of the new basketball team. The Patriot is slated to be in theaters November 2008.
