Rapper Remy Ma has received eight years in prison for assault, weapon possession and attempted coercion, the Associated Press reports. Remy allegedly shot a woman outside of a Manhattan club last summer. The 26 year old rapper, whose real name is Remy Smith, has said the shooting was an accident. Her lawyers have planned an appeal.
The sentencing comes a day after Remy’s wedding to her fiancé and fellow rapper Papoose ( (real name: Shamele Mackie) ), was called off. On Monday, Papoose went to visit his bride-to-be on Rikers Island for their wedding, scheduled for the same day. When going through security he was stopped and asked about a skeleton key he was wearing around his neck. Hot 97 personality Miss Info spoke to DJ Kayslay (a personal friend and mentor to Papoose) who said that Papoose gave up his chain and got ready to board the bus to Rikers when the court officers pull him aside and told him he has to go see the warden. Papoose was allegedly put into a jail cell and when the warden showed up, Papoose was ordered to leave because of the “contraband” he wore as jewelry. The key could have “opened handcuffs that we and other law enforcement officials use,” said an official to the press.
Although he was not charged, and Remy’s lawyer, Ivan Fisher said the key couldn’t have possibly opened the handcuffs, Papoose was ordered not to return to Rikers Island again for six months. Fisher says the hip hop couple still plans to wed, perhaps after Remy is settled in an upstate prison. Today, at the sentencing, Papoose was again escorted out of the courtroom after hearing the verdict. He reportedly screamed to the victim (Makeda Barnes Joseph), “all you want is money!” and he ordered the court officers to “lock me up!”

who gives about remy ma? she is no good and a horrible parent. i feel bad for her son. remy should have used her brains and not her stupid street creds grabbing ideology. now her son has to lose years away from his mother because of her stupid action. there were better alternatives she could have used other than acting like a stupid street savage idiot.i dont feel sorry for her at all,just her son.i hope that her son dont follow in her very ignorant and stupid steps. big mike from the bronx.
