Talib Kweli, Dwele, others, perform free concerts at Apple stores around the country for Black Music Month

What’s better than a free download? How about a free concert?  Wyclef Jean, David Banner and Talib Kweli are among many who are teaming up with Apple for free live performances in honor of June’s Black Music Month. Here is a list of acts slated to perform at an Apple store near you.

Apple Store, SoHo (New York, NY)

Wyclef Jean - 6/9, 7:00 p.m.: The epic live performer will be hitting the stage and exposing the audience to tracks from his latest album Carnival Vol II, Memoirs of an Immigrant.

Mike Phillips  - 6/13, 7:00 p.m.: The jazz-saxophone prodigy behind soulful hits with Prince, Diddy, and the Notorious B.I.G will perform a special live set.

Vaughn Anthony - 6/20, 7:00 p.m.: The backup singer for brother John Legend will let us know what he’s about with a solo performance.

Talib Kweli  - 6/26, 7:00 p.m.:
Kweli’s lyrical wizardry will demonstrate his cadence and skill for his native New York audience.

Apple Store, Lenox Square  (Atlanta, GA)

Mike Phillips  - 6/15, 3:00 p.m.: The saxophonist makes his appearance in the A.

B.o.B - 6/16, 7:00 p.m.: The man behind the anthemic “Haterz Everywhere” will bring his unusual brand of Atlanta hip hop with what is sure to be a high energy performance.

Pastor Troy/Killer Mike - 6/23, 7:00 p.m.: Two Southern greats will perform songs from their respective albums together.

David Banner  - 6/28, 7:00 pm.: Controversially underrated Southern emcee will give the audience a taste of his Mississippi, country-fried hip hop.

Apple Store, San Francisco (San Francisco, CA)

Goapele  - 6/19, 7:00 p.m.: The Oakland-bred political activist/poet/songstress will be showcasing her vocal prowess.

Mistah F.A.B’s  - 6/26, 7:00 p.m.: A hometown hero in his native Oakland, F.A.B balances conscious songs with hyphy favorites.

E-40 - 6/30, 7:00 p.m.: One of the O.G.’s of West Coast hip hop will demonstrate how he gets lyrically hyphy when he spits with the Bay eloquence that made him legendary.    

Apple Store, Perimeter (Atlanta, GA)

Janelle Monae  - 6/9, 7:00 p.m.: Bad Boy’s newest funky-fresh futuristic singer  will fuse funk, hip hop and R&B into her set.

Anthony David  - 6/17, 7:00 p.m.: The ghostwriter for numerous Grammy winners will be performing songs from his debut album Acey Duecy.

Apple Store, Lincoln Road (Miami Beach, Fl)

DJ Irie  - 6/25, 9:00 pm.: Come see why the Miami Heat DJ was voted Best Club DJ by the Miami New Times.

Apple Store, North Michigan Avenue (Chicago, Ill)

Marvin Sapp  - 6/12, 7:00 p.m.: The preacher who just happens to sing, not vice-versa, is a can’t miss show for Gospel die-hards.

Yung Berg - 6/15, 7:00 p.m.: Turn off your radio and check out a live performance from the newcomer who has been making a lot of noise with his popular club hits “Sexy Lady” and his Ray J collaboration “Sexy Can I”. 

Michelle Williams  - 6/28, 7:00 pm.:
The ex-Destiny’s Child member will be performing cuts from her hip hop/R&B fusion album Unexpected.

Apple Store, Third Street Promenade (Santa Monica, CA)

Malcolm Jamal Warner - 6/2, 7:00 p.m.: The former-Cosby kid performs with his urban jazz/funk band Miles Long.

MC Lyte  - 6/20, 7:00 pm.: The veteran lyrical diva proves she can still tear it down after 20 years deep in the game alongside her group Almost September. 

David Banner  - 6/21, 7:00 pm.: Another appearance from the politically minded Southern rapper. 

Apple Store, Somerset (Troy, MI)

Dwele - 6/6, 7:00 p.m.: The Detroit-native may best be known for his appearance on the hook of Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights”, but those who can should check out this soulful singer’s full range of skills. 

Entry into the shows is based on a first come, first serve basis
