After six years of testimonies, protests, tears, and outrage, the time everyone has been waiting for is finally here: the jury has reached a verdict in the R. Kelly trial, and decided the singer was not guilty.
Robert Kelly was charged of 14 counts of videotaping himself having sex with a 13-year-old girl (who’s now 23 and denied it was her on the tape). The unidentified female, and Kelly, never testified.
The jury— made up of nine men and three women, one being a preacher’s wife from Chicago— began deliberating on Thursday, taking the sex tape with them. If found guilty, Kelly, 41 would’ve faced up to 15 years in prison and would have had to register as a sex offender in Illinois, CNN reports.
Though things looked bleak for the Pied Piper of R&B, Kelly’s defense team drove home evidence of the man in the sex tape does not have a mole…Kelly reportedly has a mole.

I think it is ridiculous that R. Kelly got away with what he did. I think he is a clear example of the fact that if you have a little money and a little fame, you can get away with anything you would like to when it comes to the justice system. I agree with Zodiac in saying that they need to take this to civil court, but would it really be a need to if the victim is already getting paid?...HMMMM

Per my understanding at the time she didn't have the "legal right" to consent. Regardless of being a "VET" and/or the $200.
This mindset is why R. Kelly is able to get away with this. If this would have been her teacher, pastor, etc the public would say lock him. But, he's an Artist and Role Model who has the most influence today..
Plus R.Kelly is like T.I they have money for lawyer(s) who defend high profile role models. Most people wouldn't have the cash flow they do. They start having legal issues and they start to earn income, since their cred is increased greatly.
They should have locked him up or at least put the "sex offender" label on him. Because he's going to do it again. It's ingrained in his personality. Think about those who he forgot to tape or maybe this was the first time he wanted a trophy to take home. to re-live.
