The man known as the “Velvet Teddy Bear” has received a lot of love from his fans over the years but this weekend he’s giving his heart to his love of two years.
Ruben Studdard, 29, is set to marry girlfriend, Surata Zuri McCants, 30, at the Canterbury United Methodist Church in his home state of Alabama on Saturday, according to the Associated Press. Court documents state the couple received their marriage license on Monday.
Studdard met his future wife at a CD-signing at a Wal-Mart in Atlanta in October 2006. The singer said he was struck by her beauty and later tracked her down in the toy department and asked for her number.
Studdard is set to release an as-yet-untitled new album later this year.
