Kidz in the Hall, the preppy hip hop duo of Naledge and Double-O, have made the team. Electronic Arts Sports have chosen the duo’s song “Blackout” to be on the soundtrack for their highest selling video game Madden NFL 09.
The hip hop group’s single “The Blackout”, which is also featured on the duo’s latest album, The In Crowd, was picked out of over 4000 songs the Madden team considered before narrowing the list down to only 26 tracks. According to the brand, this year team Madden set out to "create a definitive soundtrack that would be a combination of returning classic Madden acts, ass-kicking new bands and some very cool surprises from hip hop to hardcore and beyond."
Kidz first single “Drivin’ Down the Block” has made waves on MTVU and MySpace. Steve Schnur, worldwide executive of music and marketing for Electronic Arts, says of the group, "We believe that this time next year, Kidz In The Hall will be true hip hop superstars."
In the past, the majority of Madden's music has come from new artists. Past soundtracks boosts the careers of such Hip Hop stars as Chamillionaire, Nappy Roots, Lupe Fiasco, Papoose, Murs, Slim Thug, and Swizz Beatz. Now with their song on this high-demand game, Kidz in the Hall are next on the gamers’ music radar.
