Snoop Dogg, the man who ushered in hip hop’s G-Funk era is taking off his Stacey Adams and hiking up his cowboy boots to work on an upcoming album of Johnny Cash covers.
Snoop - who recently collaborated with country music icon Willie Nelson on the song “My Medicine” from his Ego Trippin’ album - will remix Johnny Cash’s classic track “I Walk The Line.”
The late singer’s son Johnny Carter Cash will produce the new project. The younger Cash said his father would have been thrilled to have Snoop contributing to the album.
“He would have loved this remix record. While it stays true to the original recordings, this CD touches on undiscovered ground. This is what my father was about: staying true to tradition while creating groundbreaking new music.”
