The Atlanta rapper/producer (born Jonathan Mortimer Smith) announced his new deal with The Orchard, the company that acquired TVT Records after the label declared bankruptcy.
"I walked into the Orchard and came away with the sweet taste of freedom!" said Lil Jon. "Others talk, the Orchard does. I expect to do great things with them, and look forward to my future."
As part of the deal, Lil Jon withdrew his multi-million dollar objection to the TVT sale proceedings and agreed to TVT’s transfer of his artist agreement to the Orchard. In return, The Orchard has released Lil Jon from all future compulsions and has rights to the master recordings of his constantly delayed LP, Crunk Rock.
The project will not be released via the Orchard, a digital reissue of Lil’ Jon’s back catalog, which the company now owns, will be released in the future. No release dates have been set for either Crunk Rock or the digital music.
Lil’ Jon will also offer A&R and production support to The Orchard’s artists and labels. He will also contribute to working with agencies to develop lifestyle-oriented marketing and promotion programs.
