Michael Kenneth Williams, the shotgun-toting gay burglar from The Wire will shock his fans once again in a show focusing on female-impersonation. Williams will now star in Wig Out! an off-Broadway production about a fierce drag-queen competition, alongside Rebecca Naomi Jones.
Jones has played multiple roles on Broadway in Passing Strange, and her other theater credits include Little Shop of Horrors, Rent and How Love is Spelt. Before Williams’ set on The Wire, he was a dancer, performer and choreographer in Brooklyn and starred in several music videos such as Madonna’s “Secret. “
The production will be directed by Tina Landau, and will feature drag entertainer Daniel T. Boothe. Boothe was featured in To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar and he goes by the name Sweetie.
