Iconic artist will drop three digital albums


Prince fans can now look forward to the New Year with more than just hope: their music demigod has announced he’s dropping three new albums for 2009.

According to Billboard, the Purple One has stepped over the record labels to release the digital albums through the help of a “major retailer.”

Prince, who was involved in creating an album called Elixir, will be releasing the tentatively titled Lotus Flower and MPLSOUND, which features a cameo from Q-Tip.

Both albums will teeter on funk, rock, and pop. Prince’s last major album, Planet Earth, was released in 2007.
