Remembering yesterday, one day at a time

On this day in 2002, people all around the globe were taking off all of their clothes, as Nelly heated up the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart with his provocative single “Hot in Herre,” which remained No. 1 on the charts for seven consecutive weeks. The single peaked at No.1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Song chart for six consecutive weeks. Produced by The Neptunes, the unclothed anthem was the first single off his multiplatinum sophomore album, Nellyville (Universal, 2002). The steamy gold-certified single earned the St. Louis native a Grammy Award. Following “Hot in Herre,” Nelly released his second single from Nellyville, which would become his most successful track yet, “Dilemma,” featuring Kelly Rowland.
