Max B’s Attorney Releases Statement

When it hurts so bad, you appeal. And that’s exactly what rapper Charly “Max B” Wingate plans on doing. The Harlem emcee, who was found guilty of felony murder conspiracy charges today for a 2006 robbery gone wrong, is going to attempt to win some freedom. The rapper was accused of planning the armed robbery that ended with a man murdered. The bulk of the case against Max was based upon testimony from his ex-girlfriend Gina Conway. Conway, who also faced life, originally agreed to testify against her alleged co-conspirators for a reduced sentence of 18 years for manslaughter and armed robbery. Max B, who is set to be sentenced July 31, faces life in prison.

“Max B would like to first thank all his family, friends and fans that have supported him throughout this trial. Please don't give up on him at this point,” the rapper’s attorney, Gerald Saluti, said in a statement. “Although the jury has spoken and Max has been convicted of felony murder, kidnapping, robbery and conspiracy a swift and successful appeal shall follow.” Link

Twitter. “Let’s celebrate the fact a black man can have things like this and still care for 3 kids and wife in a $6 million house with 32 cars…” Link
