Hip Hop Credibility: While the Peas gulliness is well documented (i.e. that never aired episode of Punk'd where they beat down Ashton's crew for a joke gone awry), the Fugees have won this round since their inner turmoil is more noteworthy than any beat down the Peas could offer. (FUGEES)
The Look: Even though the Fugees damn near coined the term Hobo-chic with their avant-garde refugee styled flavor, the Peas took things a step further by adding a bona-fide fashionista, with Heatherette doll Fergie. (PEAS)
The Vocals: Sure the Peas have given us some snappy ditties to stock our iPods for endless hours, but how many of us can name the exact place and time we first heard Lauryn wail "Killing Me Softly?" (FUGEES)
Legendary Music: While the Peas are as ubiquitous as a 50 Cent fued with anybody, the Fugees have given us one of the most popular hip hops albums of all time with The Score. (FUGEES)
Weak Links: Outside of Will.I.Am and the newly added Fergie, those other two Peas are instantly forgettable. But they can't hold a candle to the truly untalented Pras, who surprisingly has made a career out of producing albums and movies that most skip. (PEAS)
Femme Fatale: Sure the Peas' Fergie single handedly made them media darlings by creating a buzz and igniting sex appeal. Lauryn is just so foxie and full of moxie, which explains her numerous Grammy awards and a flow that every female rapper around envies. (FUGEES)
The Score: Fugees 4 , Black Eyed Peas 2
The Fugees win. Despite the Peas' innovation, the Fugees manage to be one large step ahead.
