In this day and time if you rely on a major record label to do your ground work for you then you're probably the same type of person that would stay living in his or her mama's house well into adulthood.
So its finally time to head to MIA to get Asia Cruise in the studio with Danja and T-Pain. After that I'll just be waiting for the magic to happen. Still pushing her first single “Selfish” from her debut album Who Is Asia Cruise? which is presented by HiTz Committee! This album is going to be so unexpected from a predominantly rap label like mine but, I like to consider myself a music man and Asia Cruise is as talented as they come so please be ready for some- thing NEW when you pick this album up!!!
Whenever I go to Miami, I can't help but want to RELAX, so that makes me believe that if you're from or live in Miami, and are doing big things, then you’re a real deal HUSTLER about yours, because how can anyone think about work when you live in a place that looks and feels like this? As for me, I definitely have to go into another level of concentration and focus when I touch down in MIA. If I didn't I'd probably think I was on vacation.
The music business has definitely taught me some vital lessons on staying relevant in this tough and competitive industry and the one I want to pass onto any listening ears is: simply believe in what you believe in. Everyone has opinions like they got nostrils ya dig. Everyone wants to tell you that maybe you shouldn't believe in something so hard if they don't, but I couldn't possibly explain to you the satisfaction you get from proving them wrong. So as my big brother Diddy would say "Watch out for the BITCHASSNESS," because that mess is all around you all the time.
Congratulations to Rick Ross on his number one album last week. His album Trill is the shiznit!! His song “Maybach Music” with Jigga definitely inspires me to go harder or go home, and it also let me know that we (the south) are still running this shit.
The numbers never lie so why ask why?
By the way, how banging is that Lil Wayne single “Lollipop”?! That junt is banging out the frame!! I'm glad my homey came out with something that sounds totally different from what anyone would've expected, but I had a feeling he would do that. Hey, he is the Greatest Rapper Alive or have y'all still not figured that out yet?
Another thing I feel the need to put out there, is for anyone aspiring to be in the music business: If you are stressing yourself out daily, trying to figure out how to get signed or sign your artist to a major record label, stop it.
Independents are so back on the rise. People gotta start taking the "Imma do this my damn self" approach. First you gotta make sure you have a hot enough product or at least something with potential to be able to make its own way in this dirty game. Then you DO WORK.
That means a lot of things by the way, so I can't explain it in full detail at this time. Club work, foot work, radio promo work, publicity work etc. etc. Now, last but not least, think about why you really need a major. What can they do for you that you can't do for yourself?
And oh yes there are things you will need them for, but please do your research and find out what those things are. In this day and time if you rely on a major record label to do your ground work for you then you're probably the same type of person that would stay living in his or her mama's house well into adulthood. And at that point you have to ask yourself: “How lame is that?”
As for all my female rappers out there you gotta do your research as well. If you look at other female rappers and see that they're not really winning anymore. Don't be so quick to say mine is different I'm going to win! Why don't you try and find out why it seems like that format of music just isn't moving. Half of this battle to success is thorough research of your craft, and also research people of success that share your craft. So DO IT!
Oh, and Longhorns- Please don't take that University of MeMphis Ass whooping personal. That's just what we do. WORK and Win!! I think its sumn in the water. Now go home and think about it.
*R.I.P Static Major*
HiTz Committee is the FUTURE- Don't ever say I didn't warn ya.
I'm out
DO WORK
