Hold off on the proposal Paul. Wait until the Pretty Ricky album comes out, and play "Down On My Knees"

Dear Pretty Ricky,

I do not have words that are sweety to impress a girl when proposing. So can you tell m some convincing words when proposing a girl?

Paul Gwanzura

Hold off on the proposal Paul. Wait until the Pretty Ricky album comes out, and play "Down On My Knees" for her. The song is the perfect way to express how you feel. Then while the music is playing, open the box for her, get down on one knee, and wait for her to say, “I do.”

Dear Pretty Ricky,

I'm 17-years-old and I live in New York. A week after my 16th birthday I met this dude at a block party who had just turned 23. Regardless of the age difference, we hit it off and we have been together ever since. He has always been a great boyfriend and lover to me. And in return, I am forever loyal to him.

However, it’s like we live in two different worlds because he is a notorious thug’d out dude from Brooklyn, and I'm a high school senior from Long Island with a 4.0 GPA. My parents don't know about him and our relationship. They don't even know I'm having sex.

In the beginning of February we discovered that I am pregnant. We both were very happy and decided to keep the baby a secret until after my 18th birthday in June. The plan was for him to take a break from the streets and help out with the baby while I start college in the fall.

Sadly, my fairytale turned into a nightmare overnight. On April 1, the same day I received my acceptance letter from St. Johns University he was arrested on a gun charge. Due to previous incidents with the law, he will not be able to make bail and is probably going to do time. I'm [going to] play my part and hold him down, no doubt about that.

However, I'm not sure how I should tell my parents that not only am I pregnant, but my baby father is in jail and I might have to put college on hold to handle my responsibilities.  Any suggestions?

P.S. Thanks for the advice in advance, and keep doing what ya’ll do. Much love and respect!

Pretty Nae

There are plenty of women out there who are pregnant and still attend school. Getting an education will be the best thing you can do for your baby. That way, in the long run you won't have to depend on anyone. But in the meantime, be an adult. Go to your parents, be honest, and tell them your situation. Don't hide anything, just be mature and approach them like an adult. Despite what mistake you might have made, the bigger picture is that there is a baby on the way. Your baby comes first, do whatever you have to for your child.
