Obamapalooza, Obamastock, call it whatever you want, the fact is the Inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama will be an event of epic proportions. With an estimated 4 million people expected to crowd into Washington, D.C. to witness one of the most historical moments in our nation’s history, the three-day weekend (in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday) that coincides with the big day on January 20 makes the whole weekend one-big party that is sure to rock the world.
From the regal balls you probably can’t get into to the parties with purpose, the inauguration of the nation’s first black President has created a weekend atmosphere unlike no other. Forget the Super Bowl, NBA All-Star Weekend, Mardi Gras, and every HBCU Homecoming you’ve ever witnessed or heard about. Inauguration Weekend 2009 will go down in history for not only the obvious reason, but also for the festivities surrounding it.
Here’s just a small sample of some of the highlights you might be able to get into.
