T.I., Melanie Fiona, and Dawn Richard soundtrack our April issue

If you haven't copped the April 2009 issue of VIBE yet, quit sleeping and go get it! Then bump this hot collection of songs chosen by some of the featured artists.

Up-and-coming singer Melanie Fiona kicks things off with her favorite tracks from four memorable debut albums, including Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor,” and “Passin’ Me By” by The Pharcyde. She also threw in some neo-soul for good measure: “Tell Me” by Groove Theory and “Ready for Love” by India.Arie. “I fell in love with [this] song the very first time I heard it,” Fiona told VIBE. Check for her in this month's NEXT (“Hi, My Name Is...”).

Of course, the April's issue guest of honor and cover artist, T.I. surprised us with “So What” by Pink. Crazy, we know. “I kind of have a personal connection [with Pink],”  he said. “We were both on LaFace Records, although she was far more successful than me. When she came to Atlanta, we'd kick it. I took her to places some rappers wouldn't even go.” Clifford also bumps one of Kanye’s recent joints, “Heartless.”

And finally, our April Vixen, Dawn Richard (formerly of Danity Kane), fittingly chose “Survivor” by Destiny's Child and “Weak” by SWV — two cuts that make you wish some other girl groups would get back together.

One more thing: All songs are best heard while reading the actual magazine. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
