It’s St. Patrick’s Day. Where the hell is Lil Flip?

So maybe it’s not the question on the tip of your tongue, but it’s March 17, the Irish are on the march, and the Internets (or at least the VIBE office) wants to know: where the hell is Lil Flip? The breakout star of Houston’s Screwed Up Click (outside of the late, great DJ Screw himself) scored back-to-back platinum albums with Sony 2002’s Undaground Legend and 2004’s U Gotta Feel Me, but then he tangled with Tip and dude’s basically been MIA ever since. Sure there have been cameos, including a recent appearance alongside Z-Ro on Lil O’s “Betcha Can’t Do It” (“Look, me going broke is like Ross and 50 having lunch, it’ll never happen…”), and rumors of another album (I Need Mine, which we last heard of in 2006), and according to his MySpace page, there’s even a new mixtape, Fly As We Wanna Be, but we haven’t really heard from the Clover G, onetime Leprechaun in years. So can we get Lil Flip, aka, Flip Gates, on the phone before day’s end? Hey, either way, now we at least know he’s got a new nickname. Stay tuned.
