For just a second, forget about the sinking economy, the AIG bonuses and the fact that Duke’s Coach K doesn’t much care for the President of the United States filling out an NCAA Tournament bracket. Yesterday, President Barack Obama partnered with ESPN to pick his first-round upsets (#11 VCU over #6 UCLA, #11 Temple over #6 Arizona State), his Final Four (#1 Louisville, #2 Memphis, #1 Pittsburgh and #1 North Carolina) and, most importantly, his projected national champion (#1 North Carolina). In doing so, he revealed one thing that I, for one, will remember when we start talking about Obama’s first 100 days in office: Namely, that he’s—get this—a frontrunner! I mean, three top seeds in your Final Four, Mr. President!? (though, it is worth noting that Obama picked three Final Four picks correctly last season so who am I to judge?)
Not everyone disagrees with Obama’s chalky bracket though. We gathered four rappers from the hometowns of the four teams chosen to be a part of Obama’s Final Four and asked them for their predictions. Then, we asked them to create the playlist they’d recommend in order to make sure their team doesn’t get tripped up early. Hold on to those brackets, folks. It’s time to start the Big Dance.
