Ten people, places and things you need to be up on in April

We woulda put this up on April 1, but you wouldn’t have believed us. Welcome to the first installment of VIBE’s Monthly 10. Check back on the first of every month. See y’all in May!

April 3:
Fast & Furious (Universal Pictures) drops in theaters nationwide

The fourth installment of the Fast & Furious series screeches into theaters. This go-round includes the original cast which, in hindsight, is great because the last F&F? Definitely coulda used Vin Diesel on the gas.

April 6:
MLB Opening Days brings America’s Pastime back

The national pastime (uh, is that still true after the results of the second World Baseball Classic?) returns. Pack your peanuts and Cracker Jacks. Only question left: Can the N.Y. Yankees and their enormous payroll actually win it all this year?

April 7:
Jadakiss releases his third album The Last Kiss (Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam)

Bet you never thought you’d see the day. The LOX captain releases his first album under Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella wings.

April 14:
Day26 drops Forever in a Day (Bad Boy)

Diddy’s latest MTV project is back with their sophomore R&B set. Rest assured: It’s 100% bitchassness free!

April 18:
The NBA Playoffs begin on TNT

The chilly weather has finally broken (at least, it has if you’re posted up in the Big Apple right now). The ladies are out and about, but pay them no mind. Instead, park yourself on the couch or bar stool and watch Kobe and LeBron battle all challengers.

April 20:
Asher Roth releases Asleep in the Bread Isle (SRC/Universal)

Rap’s new (white) kid on the block has a debut album that’s so dope, it’s coming out on a Monday (4/20, to be exact). On the heels of his campus smash “I Love College,” expect Roth’s effort to be more Beastie Boys than Eminem.

April 21:
Rick Ross goes Deeper Than Rap (Def Jam)

The Bawse drops his third and best album yet. Who cares if he carried handcuffs before he was trying to escape from them? The music is good. Case closed!

April 24:
The Soloist (DreamWorks) hits theaters

Based on the incredible true story of Nathaniel Ayers, Jamie Foxx plays a classically-trained schizophrenic musician living on Los Angeles’s Skid Row. A chance meeting with a journalist (Robert Downey Jr.) brings unforeseen accomplishments. With an incredible knack for bringing real stories to the big screen, Foxx’s latest should be as smooth as Ayers’ music.

April 24:
Obsessed (Screen Gems) also hits theaters

What would Beyoncé do if her man cheated on her? Even if Hova never does, this should answer any lingering “What if?” scenarios should his mind ever wander.

April 25-26:
NFL Draft

Months before the big boys start fighting over the pigskin, here’s a chance to see which fresh faces are ready to join the brawl—before they know enough to complain about the millions they’ll receive. Are you ready for some football?
