Four weeks ago, VIBE launched the No. 1 Stan competition. Since then, nearly 700 VIBE readers have uploaded videos of themselves rapping over Eminem instrumentals, mainly “The Way I Am.” But last Monday, ten MCs were chosen to advance to Round II, sent a secure link with the instrumental to Eminem’s “Till I Collapse,” and given until 11:59 PM last Wednesday to upload a new video, with a new rap, over the new beat. On Thursday, VIBE sent those ten new videos to Marshall Mathers himself. Tomorrow, the week before the release of Eminem’s new album, Relapse (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope), VIBE will announce the two finalists, who will be flown to a still to be announced event to battle it out on stage, in front of a live audience, for the opportunity to be declared the No. 1 Stan. And while some in sidelines have wondered “who would want to be Stan?,” the truth is, it’s probably not a bad look to have your video seen by Eminem. The ten semi-finalists below certainly didn’t think so. Think it’s just a game? Watch the videos on the following pages, and you be the judge!
