NBA Denver Nugget's player Carmelo Anthony, who's also receiving some negative press over a recorded scuffle, is releasing his own sneaker, Carmelo 1.5. To promote the November 26 release date of his Michael Jordan signature shoe, he has executive produced a hip hop mixtape, Carmelo 1.5 Mixtape, along with Jon Cohen and Rob Stone for Cornerstone Promotion.
The 13-track mixtape, minus the intro and end shoutouts, contains radio hits, "Lean Back" (Terror Squad), "Hold You Down" (The Alchemist), "Locked Up" (Akon), and "U Make Me Wanna" (Jadakiss). Although the album plays like the radio and less like an exclusive mixtape, the banging tracks from Shawnaa, Trick Daddy, Bump J, Aftermath's newest teen rapper Morgan Smith, and Stat Quo make Carmelo 1.5 Mixtape a pleasurable head-nodding music experience.
Whether or not you're feeling the tracks, the bottom line is to go purchase the shoes. Anthony is a member of the exclusive Team Jordan, a team of athletes hand selected by basketball legend and Nike prince Michael Jordan. He's teamed with athletes such as Roy Jones Jr., Ray Allen, Jason Kidd, Randy Moss, Quentin Richardson, and Gary Payton.
