Fans expecting a show of solidarity to Cash Money Records, similar to the one Weezie showed when he decided to stay with the label after Juvenile and BG jumped ship a few years back, will be surprised to hear Birdman Jr. openly speaking of wanting to switch to The Roc. Wayne’s improved wordplay and personality shine through as he makes light of the possible trade on “Young Money Property” where he spits: “Trying to land me a spot at the Roc/ and my city got word of that/ niggas want me to hook ‘em up wit Fox.” On “Motivation,” he reasons “I’m better than I ever been/ that other shit was weak/ fuck making it in the industry/ I made it in the streets/ now my eyes is arms and I’m taking what I see.”
The almost clichéd gun talk is prevalent throughout the mixtape, however Wayne’s skills standout when he gets introspective and reveals his emotions on tracks like “I’m A Ridah.” The tracks where Wayne shares the mic are underwhelming, except the live version of “Miss My Dogs” with BG, which is unfortunately cut short. Weezie F. Baby falters with songs like “Momma Taught Me,” and “Nah This Ain’t the Remix” –both are marred by pointless misogynistic braggadocio.
Although the repetitive shouts of “Gangsta Gri-zillz” gets annoying, DJ Drama tactfully plays the background allowing Weezie the freedom to show why S. Carter wanted The Carter.
