President Obama's victory wasn't the only big news on Election Day - several states based ballot initiatives that will legalize the cultivation, sale and use of marijuana. Two of those states, Washington and Colorado, also have NFL teams - and the NFL made it abundantly clear today that just because the law is changed, doesn't mean it's cool to toke up and hit the gridiron.
"The NFL's policy is collectively bargained and will continue to apply in the same manner it has for decades," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said this week. "Marijuana remains prohibited under the NFL substance abuse program."
That's too bad for NFL players who were looking to take the edge off after a stressful Sunday. Of course, NFL players should have expected as much, but that didn't stop some from voicing their happiness. Former NFL player LenDale White, who most recently played with the Denver Broncos in 2010 and has admitted to smoking weed in the past, tweeted a positive comment before deleting it and trying to walk it back.

But sports writer extraordinaire Joe Posnanski had, by far, the best quip of the night.
As Colorado legalizes marijuana we now now why Peyton Manning wanted to give away TWO million pizzas. Man can read a defense.
