The Breakfast Club Talks To Macklemore About His Past Job as Security Guard, Addiction and Jimmy Iovine

Adelle Platon Posted December 3, 2012

Macklemore has come full-circle since his days of working with incarcerated youth and drug addiction.

While in New York, the "Thrift Shop" spitter stopped by Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club to talk about his pre-rap beginnings, being a successful indy artist and calling on Jimmy Iovine to appear in the video for his self-titled track.

"It was a dope job I was in college and I would bring in beats to writing workshops with the youth," the Seattle MC recalls about working with kidsin jail. "For a lot of them, it was their first time hearing themselves on headphones and getting a CD of themselves and from there, I ended up as a security guard in the jail."
